Strength & durability

The use of SPF in a fillet application improved the uplift resistance by approximately 2x, and by approximately 3x when used as a full-cavity insulation, depending on the size of nails used (Source: Huntsman Building Solutions, Spray Foam & resiliency, BES-103 Design Note, 2022)

Constructing with closed-cell spray foam can help make buildings stronger, more resilient, and mitigate repair costs after climate and other natural disasters.

Because it is chemically inert and of rigid nature, closed-cell foam shows strong compressive strength, making it an ideal solution for flooring applications.

Also in this context, keeping compression strength is important to avoid a deformation of the roof or insulation.

For walls relying on a timber frame, since SPF can completely fill stud cavities, it creates a seamless and monolithic wall assembly. Factoring in its rigidity, closed-cell SPF applied to the walls of a home enhances overall building stability.

Furthermore, it is assumed that Spray Polyurethane Foam can last for the lifetime of the building and certainly over 30/50 years.
